Park Board Opposes Fence Idea
The Richmond Parks and Recreation Advisory Board does not agree with Richmond Mayor Jim Barnes proposal to erect a wrought iron fence around the Irvine-McDowell property.
During a meeting Tuesday the Advisory Board went on record as opposing the proposal by a voice vote
Some of the reasons given were: it would limit access, especially during special events, it would make the park appear uninviting, resembling private property and it would not be ascetically pleasing.
The proposed fence would cost about $28,000 and the motion to build it has been tabled twice at Richmond City Commission meetings.
