Camper Falls To His Death

A Cincinnati man is dead after falling 200 feet off a cliff at Red River Gorge.

It happen Sunday night when the man stepped over the railing at Chimney Top, a popular camping destination..

First responders with Wolfe County Search And Rescue say they are very familiar with this particular part of the gorge and knew the distance of fall they were dealing with…which is why they called for assistance from surrounding counties. It took crews from Wolfe, Powell, and Meinfee Counties several hours to work the accident.

Foul play is not suspected but officials do believe alcohol may have been involved.

He was with a group that visits the gorge annually.
