A Morning Fire Damages Lexington Home

An early morning fire has left one Lexington Home heavily damaged and one of the residents hospitalized.

Firefighters were called to a house fire on East 2nd Street shortly after midnight Monday. No one was home at the time of the blaze however the homeowners arrived at the scene shortly after firefighters arrived. A woman at the scene became ill and was taken to the hospital.

Fire officials say the house will have to be gutted before residents can return.

Firefighters believe the fire started in a back bedroom. The cause has not been determined.

An arson investigator was at the scene this morning.
