Berea Votes Yes To Restaurant Alcohol Sales
The City of Berea has voted for alcohol sales by the glass at restaurants meeting the guidelines.
According to Madison County Clerk Kenny Barger 12 precincts voted in today’s election.
The total was 1,476 Yes and 1,113 No.
Barger says that represents roughly a roughly a 24% voter turnout. ”These local issues bring more folks out than normal generals and primaries,” he said.
Alcohol sales will be restricted to restaurants that seat at least 50 people and derive 70% of their sales from food.
The next step is now up to the city of Berea. A coordinator will need to be named to work with the state and the city in issuing licenses.
Any restaurant interested in applying for a license will have to make the application through the city of Berea.
