Today Berea Voters Decide On Alcohol Sales In Restaurants

Today voters in Berea will decide if restaurants will be able to sll alcoholic beverages by the glass within the city limits.

If the referendum passes, restaurants that seat at least 50 people and makes 70 percent of their sales off food would be allowed to sell alcohol by the glass . It would not allow the sale of alcohol at bars or package stores.

The Boone Tavern is the only restaurant in Berea than currently sells alcoholic beverages.

A special vote was held effecting just the area where the 106 year old facility is located. It started selling alcoholic beverages by the glass in October 2014.

Two previous votes that would have allowed alcohol sales within the entire city limits of Berea were defeated in 2000 and 2007.
