Estate Sues Winchester Apartment Owners

The estate of  Amber Caudill the Winchester woman killed in her apartment when a bullet entered through the floor of her upstairs apartment during a home invasion December 23rd, has filed suit against Verdure LLC, the owner of the Summit Apartments.

In the lawsuit, Marcus and Karen Caudill claim the apartment owner took few precautions to increase safety at the complex. The suit also claims there are no security cameras, access gates, barrier fences, security points or guards at the complex.

“The Summit Apartments have poorly secured premises with a heightened susceptibility to criminal activity taking place on the premises,” the suit reads.

Four people are awaiting trial in connection with the shooting.
