Hundreds turned out for the visitation of fallen firefighter Captain Zach Clevenger. Clevenger passed away hours after fighting a fire in Estill county Friday night.
The viewing started Wednesday afternoon with a 50 mile procession from his hometown of Beattyville to Mount Sterling.
Kentucky Fire Commissioner Ronnie Day says the support has been unbelievable. “It’s just amazing to watch these people, you know, they’re standing at attention or waving a flag or they have their hand over their heart and the small children do it as well,” he said. “It really makes you humble and makes you appreciate things a little more.”
Clevenger was a full time firefighter for the Montgomery county fire department and volunteered with the Estill Volunteer Department.
He will be buried with full honors Thursday afternoon.
