Richmond Couple Arrested For Car Break-Ins

On 12/25/2015 (Christmas Day), police charged William K. McFarland, age 39, Simpson Lane, and Stephanie D. Ledford, age 31, W. Main Street, for stealing from vehicles.
At approximately 5:25 A.M., officers were dispatched to the Shopper’s Village parking lot in response to a report that male and female were breaking into cars in the area. Upon arrival, officers located McFarland and Ledford. McFarland attempted to flee from officers but was found hiding in a nearby wooded area.
It was subsequently determined that McFarland had stolen some fishing gear from a vehicle and that Ledford had been observed attempting to gain entry to parked vehicles in the area.
McFarland was charged Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500 and Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree and lodged in the MCDC. He was also served with a summons issued by the Madison District Court charging him for Assault 4th Degree, Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree, and Terroristic Threatening 3rd Degree based on a citizen complaint filed on 11/30/2015.
Ledford was cited for Attempted Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500 and released.
