The Madison Co. Youth In Action team, partnering with local law enforcement, is conducting their 2015 Holiday Sticker Shock Campaign on Wednesday.
The project raises awareness about underage drinking and aims to strengthen laws against providing alcohol to minors. Students participating in the campaign place bright yellow stickers on packs of beer, wine coolers, and other alcohol products. The students are accompanied by uniformed law enforcement officers during the event.
Organizers say Youth In Action’s mission is to reduce the access of alcohol to youth under 21 years of age by targeting social and retail availability of alcohol and by supporting the enforcement of underage drinking laws. Madison County’s award-winning team was formed in 2006 and participates in a variety of project designed to raise public awareness about underage drinking.
The team is a two time recipient of Kentucky Youth in Action Team of the Year, Youth Empowerment Systems Team of the Year and has received the Heart of M.A.D.D. award for their outstanding service and dedication to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
