Powell Man Sentenced In Shooting Death Of His Wife
A Powell County man was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years probation for the shooting death of his wife Rosena last April.
Yesterday James Hood appeared in court on second degree manslaughter charges.
Police say during a party Rosena allegedly shot their dog and placed the dog in the fireplace. That’s when according to witnesses, James Hood reportedly tried to get the gun from the woman, when it discharged during the scuffle. The victim was shot in the stomach and rushed to the hospital where she later died.
Hood has served a year in jail and since the five years of probation was included with the eight year sentence, he will be eligible for release next year.
