No pay increase for Richmond police officers

Despite emotional pleas from allies of Richmond police officers, pay increases for those officers were not included in the Richmond city budget passed on June 28. The lone dissenter was commissioner, Jim Newby. Other commissioners said hey favored the proposed increase, but needed to see the conclusion of a study on the financial impact before adopting it.
