Madison And Estill Bands Bring Home State Championships

Congratulations to both Madison Central High School marching band and the Estill County High School Marching Engineers, both brought home state championships in their division.

It happened this weekend as the school competed in the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMES) Stae Marching Band Competition.

Madison Central has broken the record. The school is the first to win three consecutive state championships

Tthe start was a little rocky for Madison Central after placing fourth in the semifinals because of a time penalty. However, the band came back in the championship round to wow the judges with their show titles “Deafening,” which features sections of Beethoven’s concertos and piano sonatas.

Central has won Kentucky State Championships five times, including a 2A title, a 3A title and with this win three consecutive 5A titles.

The Estill County Marching Engineers were equally impressive bringing home the second consecutive Class 2A state Championship. The band won with their show titled “Pompeii 79AD,” a show that depends on large props including an erupting volcano.

The score was orginally intend for the concert band, however Band Director Jason Bowles rearranged the score for the marching band.
