Richmond Woman Arrested After 8 Hour Standoff

Sunday an eight hour standoff in Richmond has ended with the arrest of Sherry Rogers, 46, of Valley Street and a police robot disabled..

Richmond Police were called to the Valley Street home to investigate reports of shots being fired. When they arrived they heard a man and woman screaming inside the house. Police tried to make contact with the people inside, and that’s when they say Rogers told one officer that if they came inside, “he was going to die.”

Richmond Police activated their Emergency Response team. Kentucky State Police also responded and used their robot to see the situation inside the home. When the robot entered the premises, Rogers allegedly shot it disabling the $30,000 unit. The bullet fired at the robot also grazed a door and went towards two officers, according to police.

Police were later able to make contact with the man inside the home who said he ran out of the home when Rogers started shooting at him, according to her arrest citation.

The Emergency Response team then used tear gas to force the suspect out of the home. When she exited the house Police made the arrest.

Rogers was taken to the hospital and then placed under arrest. She is charged with wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. .
