Traffic Stop Yields Drugs Irvine Man Arrested
A routine traffic stop for an expired plate has landed Earl W. Potter, 35, of Irvine in jail on multiple charges.
Kentucky State Police say Potter was a passenger in the vehicle and was seen “reaching around” in the car and appeared nervous. Troopers noticed a firearm in the center of the console and asked Potter to step out of the vehicle. Potter had no identification and during questioning gave troopers a social security number belonging to a family member.
Troopers say there was an odor of marijuana. During a search of the vehicle troopers found a baggie with a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a small baggie of marijuana, a glass pipe, several Suboxone strips and digital scales.
Potter was charged with two counts of buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, first offense first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and giving a false name or address to an officer.
He is lodged at the Madison County Detention Center. .
