Estill County Update

In Estill County, damage assessment teams worked throughout the weekend and are out today surveying and compiling lists of damaged property. The latest estimates are 50 Homes destroyed and over 70 homes damaged.

At the Estill Springs Elementary School Red Cross officials decided to close the shelter due to low response, despite the wide spread damage.

“We only ended up having five clients at this shelter, we really expected to have a lot more than that,” said Loretta Henderson, Red Cross Regional Disaster Program Specialist. “ The damage went all the way from just having lost their power and gas and not being able to stay there due to the elements, all he way to having their homes pretty much destroyed.”

Donations are still being accepted at any Red Cross office and at Helping Hands Outreach in Ravenna.
