Menifee County Man Charged With Murder After Running Over His Wife

A Menifee County man identified as Austin Prater, 20, is in jail for murder after he allegedly ran over his wife and left her body on the road.

Police say Mariah Prater, fell out the passenger side of his truck and was ran over by his left rear tire. Prater reportedly stopped and when he walked over to her and saw her choking on her own blood, he called 911, but he refused to give the dispatcher his name. Police say he then tossed his cell phone in the weeds and left the scene.

Prater was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with murder, violation of a Kentucky Emergency Protective Order, leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evidence. He is lodged at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
