Driver In Multi-County Chase Identified

A multi county chase turned into a stand-off situation in Madison County, closing both the North and Southbound lanes of I-75 for several hours..

The chase that involved Kentucky State Police and multi-county law enforcement including a police helicopter started in Georgetown and ended near exit 90, when the driver pulled over. The truck was quickly surrounded, however there were some tense moments when the driver identified as 35 year old Jason Shipwash of Bourbon County, refused to exit the vehicle.

According to KSP spokesperson Trooper Robert Purdy, Shipwash surrendered peacefully shortly after 1 pm. He was transported back to Scott County to face charges.

Shipwash never drove fast and at times could be seen on his phone waving at people.
