Richmond Man Arrested On Several Drug Charges

Thursday morning, Richmond Police were at the Hampton Inn looking to serve a warrant, when they observed a man identified as Elvin Smith, 29, of Sizemore Drive, driving the wanted man’s vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle and during questioning Smith told officers that he had rented the vehicle. Inside the vehicle police found a brown paper bag with several plastic bags containing heroin and methamphetamine They also found electronic scales and $1,425 in cash.

Smith is charged with second or more offense first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance ( more than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine) and first offense first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (more than or equal to two grams of heroin).

He is lodged at the Madison County Detention Center.
