Richmond Inmate Captured

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says it captured an inmate approximately six hours after she escaped from the Madison County Detention Center.

Sheriff Mike Coyle says deputies uncovered information that led them to the Quality Quarters Motel on North Killarney Lane in Richmond Monday around 8:00 p.m., where they found and arrested 27-year old Alexandria L. Smith of Richmond.

Investigators say she had escaped from jail around 2:00 p.m. Monday.  State Police say Smith was originally in jail on a warrant for Theft by Deception and Failure to Appear.  A charge of Felony Escape was added Monday night during her arrest, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
