Mother Jailed After Drugging Her Infant

A Montgomery County mother is in jail after she drugged her five day old baby to get the infant to stop crying.

Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies arrested Chasity Lewis, 29, after she told hospital personnel she slipped the infant Suboxone

“She took that in a pill form and crushed it up in a powder form and put it on a pacifier and gave it to the child,” said Montgomery County Sheriff Fred Shortridge.

Shortridge said Lewis only took her newborn to the hospital after her own mother made her when the baby slept for almost 14 hours straight.

She is charged with first degree criminal abuse

Lewis has five other children that are being raised by their grandmother.
