Irvine Man In Court Over Bomb Threat
An Irvine man accused of threatening to blow-up a Winchester Wal-Mart on New year’s day, was arraigned Monday.
Police say caller “ID” led them to Kyle Herbert, 23, of Irvine, KY. Police say Herbert phoned the Winchester Wal-Mart and allegedly told a store employee there were several bombs throughout the store set to go off every 45 minutes.
Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said the call was made around 4:55 a.m. and the store was evacuated as a precaution but the store was not searched.
Hall says thanks to the store’s caller ID phone system the call was traced to a residence in Irvine, where Hebert allegedly made the call to Winchester as well as a similar call to the Walmart in Berea,
Herbert is charged with with second-degree terroristic threatening. The charge is a class D felony with a penalty of one to five years in prison upon conviction.
During his arraignment Monday in Clark District Court, the judge entered an automatic not-guilty plea and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Jan. 13.
His bond was set at $10,000 cash or property.
