New Police Chief For Richmond

In a three to two vote Richmond City Commission voted to hire James Ebert as the new police chief.

Ebert is currently Lieutenant and Assistant Night Shift Commander of the Franklin Police Department.

Commissioners Jim Newby and Jason Morgan voted against hiring Ebert, not because of the candidate’s experience but because of the selection process. Commissioner Newby noted the commission interviewed only one candidate. A field of 10 finalists had been narrowed to two, but the other candidate declined the final interview.

Ebert along with his wife Swanda and their daughter Katarina, 6, attended last night’s meeting.

Ebert will take the position as Chief October 17th.
