Valley View Ferry Closed Saturday For Investigators

The Valley View Ferry will be closed Saturday as investigators and firefighters returned to the scene where what may be human remains were found.

It happened last Saturday as firemen pulled several vehicles from the Kentucky River. While firefighters worked to salvage a vehicle, the car split in half. When it did, what appeared to be human skeletal remains fell out of the vehicle.

Divers were called to the scene where they found broken car parts and several more bones, leading them to believe there are two sets of remains.

The remains apparently have been submerged for a long period of time and may be difficult to identify.

Thee bones have been in the river for quite some time, the question will come, who is it ?,” said Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn. “Obviously I’m not sure that we will be able to tell that because being in the water so long we might not be able to find any DNA.”

After all the remains have been recovered, they will be sent to a forensic lab at the University of Tennessee.
