Christmas Crash Claims One

A Christmas night crash in Rowan County has claimed the life of Michael Ison, 59, of Morehead and hospitalized two. It happened Friday evening at around 7 p.m on Kentucky 377, near the intersection of Kentucky 799.

Police say a vehicle driven by Jimmy Stacy, 58, of Morehead, crossed the center line and hit Ison. Stacy and Ison’s passenger, Barbara Ison, 54, of Morehead, were transported to St. Claire Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Nearby resident Joseph Donahew says it’s a dangerous stretcvh of roadway.

“I’ve lived here since I was a child, I see a lot of wrecks,’ said Joseph Donahew. “. People drive fast on this road, they think that because we’re out here away from town they think there’s not lot of police activity so they don’t think they’ll have to worry about speeding tickets.”

Kentucky 377 was shutdown for several hours while police conducted an investigation.
