Train Hits Car Kills Driver

A freight train collided with a vehicle in Lincoln County around noon Saturday killing the vehicle’s driver.

The accident happened is Hustonville on Kentucky highway 21-41 at Community Center Drive.

According to the Lincoln County Coroner, 47 year old, Allen Braden of Lincoln County was pronounced dead at the scene, after the vehicle he was driving was hit by an on coming freight train.

The cause of the accident is unclear at this time, but according to the coroner, Braden was leaving the home of someone who lived nearby the tracks when he drove directly into the path of the train and was hit on the drivers side of his s-u-v.

It doesn’t appear that Braden was on the phone at the time of the incident.

According a witness, Braden appeared to be driving slowly when he pulled in front of the train.

The coroner said there was no possible way the train conductor could have stopped in time to prevent the crash.

An autopsy is scheduled, but at this time, the coroner is attributing the death to multiple blunt force trauma due to collision.

The crash is still under investigation.
